DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME

May 20, 2022

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 (NLT)

If the devil is like a roaring lion that’s looking for someone to devour, who do you think he’s looking for? He’s looking for Christians who don’t know who they are in Christ.

If you know who you are and you understand what you’re entitled to in an area, the devil can’t stop you. But if you’re confused or unsure, he can cause all sorts of havoc in your life with his lies.

For example, if you aren’t convinced that God has given you the power to make wealth, you may believe all sorts of lies about your ability to grow your finances. If this is the case, don’t waste your time coming against the devil.

Your battle is not with the devil. Jesus won that battle more than 2,000 years ago! Your fight is within your own heart—convincing it to believe that you are who the Bible says you are.

Throughout history, armies have been known to build fake tanks, weapons and production plants to mislead attackers. If they can convince the enemy that these decoys are real, they can divert them from the real fight at hand.

The devil uses a similar tactic. If you start thinking that he’s the one who is stopping you, you’ll waste your time fighting something that isn’t even a threat.

All you have to do is resist the devil and he will flee (James 4:7). Put your focus on God and His Word instead. Find out who you are in Christ because the devil doesn’t stand a chance when you know who you are.
