CREATING GENERATIONAL FAITH

May 8, 2022

“I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation. This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you.” Genesis 17:7 (NLT)

God is all about generations. In fact, one of the reasons He chose to make the old covenant with Abraham was because of how Abraham viewed family. God knew this man would pass his faith down to the next generation.

Parents, don’t let this world remove the incredible honour and importance of raising your children. It’s not just a side hustle or a part-time job. We have a responsibility to make sure each generation is being prepared to serve God.

Since Mother’s Day is this month, I want to speak especially to moms. Others might not value the work you do to raise those kids. Your own children may not recognize the sacrifices you make. But every time you teach them God’s Word, you plant a seed in their hearts. Sometimes seeds take a while to come up. But as time goes on and your children go through the seasons of life, they may come to realize the importance of the faith you demonstrated.

Don’t worry about measuring up to the other moms you know. Motherhood is not a competition, and those moms are only perfect on social media. Keep training, coaching and loving the children God has blessed you with.

The poet William Ross Wallace said, “The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.” Moms, feel proud—in a godly way—of what you’re doing for your family and the next generation. You’re doing incredible things in your home and for God’s Kingdom!
