Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. Hebrews 11:1 (AMP)
Your five senses continually grab information from the physical world. Sometimes that information goes against what God's Word says.
For example, you may be believing God for healing, but the physical evidence is saying, “I look and feel sick today.” Or you may be considering two job opportunities, and one looks better on paper but you sense God leading you toward the second option. In both scenarios, you have a choice to make. Will you allow your five senses to dictate what you believe or will you live by faith?
We must continually gather evidence from God’s Word, know what it says, download it into our hearts and work with Holy Spirit to apply it. When you’re believing for the miraculous, recognize that God’s promises are already a done deal. Jesus’ sacrifice for you is the indisputable evidence that those promises override your situation.
I’m not saying you need to walk around in denial or shut off your brain. What you can perceive with your senses is real. But God’s Word shows us a deeper reality. Second Corinthians 4:18 (VOICE) says, “So we do not set our sights on the things we can see with our eyes. All of that is fleeting; it will eventually fade away. Instead, we focus on the things we cannot see, which live on and on.”
As you continue to handle what's going on in the natural world, decide that God’s Word will be your ultimate authority!
