Today we’re going to take a look at God’s promises of protection in Job 5:19-26. (NKJV)
He shall deliver you in six troubles, yes, in seven no evil shall touch you. In famine He shall redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword. You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and you shall not be afraid of destruction when it comes.
You shall laugh at destruction and famine, and you shall not be afraid of the beasts of the earth. For you shall have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with you. You shall know that your tent is in peace; you shall visit your dwelling and find nothing amiss.
You shall also know that your descendants shall be many, and your offspring like the grass of the earth. You shall come to the grave at a full age, as a sheaf of grain ripens in its season. Job 5:19-26 (NKJV)

Promise of Redemption
In famine He shall redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword.
When this scripture was written, a famine in the land meant death and destruction. We may not suffer famines in the same way today, but this promise also applies to economic trials, stock market crashes, lay-offs and any other circumstances where times are tough.
In times like these, God promises that you will be redeemed. It’s a promise of miraculous provision and favour—a promise that He will provide! It’s also a promise of protection in times of war or conflict.
Whether we’re talking about a literal war, conflict at work or any other hostile disputes, you can claim this promise over yourself and your loved ones and see God’s miraculous favour and protection at work!
Promise of Protection From Slander
You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue.
People often gossip and do damage with the words they speak, especially when they are changing, growing and moving forward in life.
These words have the potential to destroy your reputation, whether they are untrue, or they have an element of truth to them.
This verse is a promise of protection from words that have the potential to hurt you, your business, your family, or anything else you care about.
God promises to protect you from the scourge of the tongue, and you can claim this promise over your life!
Promise of Protection From Destruction
You shall not be afraid of destruction when it comes.
This promise is twofold. Not only does it promise you protection from destruction, but it also promises that you will have peace.
We live in a fallen world, and sometimes we will face crises. Even if it feels like the world is falling down around you and everyone else is panicking, remember that you are protected and you have the ability to walk out that situation with a peace that surpasses understanding.
God is with you and His Spirit is in you!
Promise of Protection From Natural Hazards
You shall laugh at destruction and famine, and you shall not be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
For you shall have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with you.
This portion is talking about nature and everything to do with this natural world we live in. Whether we’re talking about birds and animals or winds and waves, you are protected.
When you’re on a nature walk or you’re swimming in the ocean, you’re protected from wild animals. They’re at peace with you. Even when the soil won’t produce for others, it’ll produce for you because you have a covenant with the stones of the field.
Tsunamis, hurricanes, monsoons, tornadoes...no form of destruction escapes God’s promises of protection. Claim this promise and walk in peace!
Promise of Peace
You shall know that your tent is in peace; you shall visit your dwelling and find nothing amiss.
The enemy loves to bring fear, anger and division into marriages and families, but God promises you peace in your home. In fact, His peace follows you wherever you go—at home, at the office, at school, when you’re making financial decisions, when you’re out shopping—everywhere!
You can claim this peace in Jesus’ name, and practice it everywhere you go. Trust in this peace, and allow Holy Spirit to show you where you need to grow in practical wisdom for your relationships.
You have no need to stress and worry about the security of your home or the safety of your loved ones because God promises that when you go home, you will find nothing amiss. Even when you’re away, believe that His protection covers your home and claim this incredible promise!
Promise of Family & Relationships
You shall also know that your descendants shall be many, and your offspring like the grass of the earth.
If you’re struggling to conceive or to find that special someone to start a family with, this promise is for you.
Claim this promise over your life and recognize that God has you covered in this area. He wants to fulfill the desires of your heart and lead you to find practical solutions that will help your dreams to come true!
Promise of a Healthy & Long Life
You shall come to the grave at a full age, as a sheaf of grain ripens in its season.
This final promise is really important. Many of us believe that as we grow older, we’re destined to get sick, to have pain, to grow weak and tired or to lose our memories.
Perhaps because of our family history, we might stop expecting to live to a ripe old age. But this is not a biblical picture of old age. Moses was 120 years old and the Bible says that his eyes had not dimmed, and his natural forces had not abated.
We don’t have to accept disease! We often assume that cancer or some other disease will take us out, but God promises that we can come into full age healthy and sharp. Claim this promise and believe for health and energy so you can continue to serve God all your days!
