May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14 (NLT)
In today’s verse, we read a very interesting prayer that Paul prayed for the believers in Corinth. He prayed they would experience the grace of Jesus, the love of God and the fellowship of Holy Spirit. This is my prayer for you as well.
Today let’s focus on the first part of Paul’s prayer: the grace of Jesus.
Grace is the favour, ability and power you receive from God because of Jesus. When Jesus died, He earned so much for you: blessings, promises and the ability to have an intimate relationship with God for all eternity.
Let me give you a mental picture to help you understand His grace. Picture that God is sitting on His throne with Jesus on His right side. As you pray, God is dealing out blessings to you from His right hand. But each time He hands out a blessing, He looks at Jesus, not you. You ask; He looks at Jesus to see if you deserve it. And of course, every time the answer is yes because Jesus earned it all!
God is not eyeing you suspiciously. When you ask Him for something, He doesn’t examine you to see if you have done anything wrong, holding back His blessings when He finds out how imperfect you have been. God is looking at Jesus to determine what to give you.
Isn’t that awesome? Jesus is perfect, so you qualify for every blessing, one hundred percent of the time!
Every time you think of Jesus, think of His grace—all of the wonderful benefits that He has gained for you—and thank Him!
