Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 (NLT)
To confidently share the truth of the Gospel, we have to know what and who we believe.
For example, I’ve had people tell me, “I wish all the world religions would just realize they all believe in the same God.” The idea sounds nice, but it’s actually not true.
Jesus said He was the way. He never said, “I am one way,” or “a way”, but the way. So, if Jesus is the only way, all the other options are not.
When Jesus said, “I am the truth,” that means there is no other god that’s truthful out there. If another faith’s doctrine disagrees with the truths written in God’s Word, then those principles are not the truth. If a doctrine or logical-sounding thought isn’t obedient to the teachings in God’s Word, don’t entertain it. Cherry-picking bits of doctrine from this religion or that religion will cause confusing, unstable beliefs.
Jesus said, “I am the life.” Don’t look at the world as though their partying, sex, money, drugs or way of living leads to a phenomenal, envious life (1 John 2:16-17). It’s a lie. If it were the truth, Hollywood would be the happiest place on earth! Yet broken lives cratered with emptiness, insecurity and desperation litter the jet-set culture.
To develop a confident faith, develop the habit of spending time in God’s Word. God wants us to know Him! He’s even given us the Bible—an entire love letter to us—showing us what and in Whom to place our faith.
Jesus is the King of Kings and the Bible is the uncompromised Word of God. Do you believe it?
