TRUST HIM FOR WORDS AND WISDOM

March 19, 2023

“Now when they bring you to the synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say. For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” Luke 12:11–12 (NKJV)

When I was training as a paramedic, I wasn’t allowed to talk to people about God. But one day while I was treating a patient, he started crying out of the blue and said, “Would you please pray for me?” So of course I did.

Not long after, I was called to the hospital administrator’s office. She had received a complaint that I was pushing my religion on people in a forceful way. I explained what really happened, but she wasn’t satisfied.

The Bible says Holy Spirit will give us words to say in these situations, and here’s what He prompted me to say. I told her, “Then I’ll talk to the newspapers and tell them your hospital is pro-Catholic and anti-Protestant. Your textbooks tell us how to baptize a Catholic infant if it dies on the way to the hospital—but says nothing about Protestant babies.” Now, there’s no such thing as Protestant infant baptism, but she didn't know that and ended up dismissing the complaint against me.

I’m not saying this is exactly what you should do in a similar situation. But Holy Spirit will give you wisdom. Don’t be afraid of what people will think when you share your faith. We have a cause that’s far more important. I would rather be sure someone makes Heaven than keep quiet and avoid someone getting upset at me.

Who can you share Jesus with? I encourage you to look for opportunities and trust Holy Spirit to give you the words to say.
