TIME TO HOP OFF THE SCOOTER!

October 13, 2022

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5–6 (NLT)

God designed us to get up and go for Him. But sometimes, we become caught up in thinking that pursuing a comfortable life is God’s best for us. With that mindset we tend to stick to the paths of least resistance.

For example, if there’s a fork in the road, and one option looks challenging while the other way seems effortless, we might not even wonder about God’s will. We may automatically assume, “God would want me to take the easier path because He loves me.”

I understand the thought process, but is it our destiny to always walk the easiest, most boring paths? Now, I’m not saying we aren’t supposed to enjoy good things in life or that God wants us to be constantly uncomfortable. But God created us to live fully, not just comfortably exist until we die.

It reminds me of the motorized scooters I’ve seen available in malls for people who need help getting around. Imagine if those scooters had massive, turbocharged engines, but people only used them for meandering around the mall at two miles per hour. Eventually, they would become choked with carbon and quit working properly. That’s what people who pursue comfort over destiny become like after a while.

The truth is, God designed us to fight onward and do great things for Him (Philippians 3:14). After all, He still has many other kids in the world who need to hear the Gospel.

So, rather than pursuing comfort as king, let’s remember we’re created to live out phenomenal destinies. Let’s actively use our lives to impact the world for God’s Kingdom!
