I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong, neither is bread to the wise... but time and chance happen to them all. Ecclesiastes 9:11 (AMPC)
Today's verse is interesting. It shows us that no matter who's faster, stronger or wiser, in a way all of us are on an equal playing field. Why? Because time and chance happen to everyone.
Now, it's obvious that nobody can stop time. But what does this verse mean by "chance"? In the Greek, it's the word "pega," which means a sudden occurrence.
Have you ever had anything happen in your life out of the blue? Maybe things were going well, when all of a sudden, an accident happened, a business partner betrayed you or your spouse walked out on you, leaving you to deal with the aftermath. The thing is, we have an enemy in this world. He wants to bring negative chance occurrences into your life to trap you. That's why it's crucial to be rooted in the Word when those storms come.
But God is also out to bring "sudden occurrences" into your life. The difference is, He wants to pour out unexpected blessing, favour and divine appointments. He wants you to be able to look at a situation and say, "Wow, this could only be God!"
Regardless of your talent, skills or level of success, chance occurrences will take place in your life. Satan would like nothing more than for these occurrences to be destructive. But as a child of God, you are protected when these attacks come. And the chance occurrences that your Father brings into your life will surprise you with His goodness!
