But a life lived loving God bears lasting fruit, for the one who is truly wise wins souls. Proverbs 11:30 (TPT)
God’s Word talks about our lives being like fruit-bearing trees.
What’s interesting is trees don’t eat their own fruit. The fruit is for others. It’s the people around us that “pick” and enjoy the fruit growing in our lives: our joy, our love, our patience, the way we treat our spouses and raise our kids, and the internal spark we have when others are empty on the inside.
Let me share a quick story that highlights this point. Years ago, a young family moved into the house beside us. Sally invited the mom over for coffee, and soon she began showing up on our doorstep every day.
We had four little girls at the time, and our lives were busy, yet this lady would sit in our house for hours on end. Finally, she confessed to Sally, “I just love being in your home. I love the peace here and the way your kids behave. I like the way you treat your husband. I don’t like going to my house.”
So, Sally shared Jesus with her and how He was the source of peace and love in our home. That lady gave her life to the Lord, and as change began to enter their home, so did her husband and kids.
What changed the eternal direction of that family? The mom was drawn to and enjoyed the sweet fruit in Sally’s life. She wanted what Sally had, and because of that, it opened a way for my wife to share Christ and win her soul for eternity.
Never underestimate the power of a fruit-bearing life. A “life lived loving God” can attract others to Him through you!
