THE ONLY VIEW THAT MATTERS

November 10, 2022

We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19 (ESV)

When you spend time with God, are you reminded of everything you’ve done wrong? If your faults and shortcomings keep coming to mind, there’s a problem.

Some people think that God brings up all the sin in our lives when we spend quiet time with Him, but that’s not true. If your mom or dad only talked about your shortcomings when you spent time with them, would you look forward to that time? No! You’d probably avoid it.

God isn’t a guilt-inducing kind of father. When you spend all your prayer time looking at your faults, you’re not even spending time with God. You’re actually thinking about you.

Think of it this way. When you’re following someone, who takes up your view? The person you’re following, right? Well, there’s only one view when you’re following Jesus. That view is Jesus, not your faults!

Don’t worry about every little problem you have. Of course you need to ask for forgiveness when you’ve done wrong and work to make it right. However, when you focus on those mistakes and beat yourself up for them, it doesn’t help one bit. As you follow Jesus wholeheartedly, any bad habits or wrong desires you have will begin to naturally fall away.

Instead of being so worried about what you’ve done, think about what He’s done. Feel His love in your life. You see, what matters most is not how much you love God. It’s finding out how much He loves you. Focus on your love for Him and you’ll always be reminded of where you fall short. Focus on His love for you and your life will change!
