In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Ephesians 6:10 (AMPC)
If you stopped reading today’s verse after “be strong,” you might assume that you just have to get tough, “get over it,” or “suck it up” in life. But that’s not where this verse ends. It says we need to be strong in the Lord.
Here is the problem many Christians face today. They’re trying to be strong, but they’re not being empowered through their relationship with God. They’re not drawing strength from His boundless reserves. As a result, so many people are stressed out.
You have three kinds of strength in your life: mental, physical and spiritual. If you only rely on mental and physical strength, one of two things will happen to you. You will limit yourself to only what you can handle on your own personal strength. Or you will burn out trying to live out God’s amazing plans because you can’t achieve His best without tapping into His strength. It’s just not possible.
On the other hand, if you draw from the strength that comes from your relationship with God, you can do “all things through Christ who strengthens you” (Philippians 4:13, NKJV). You won’t burn out because there is no such thing as spiritual burnout.
You see, no matter how big your problems are, they don’t overwhelm God. They don’t even faze Him. So don’t run on your personal energy reserves. Learn to draw from His energy tank. Build your relationship with God and switch your awareness to His never-ending spiritual power that’s within you.
