PREPARED FOR ANYTHING

Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. Ephesians 6:14 (NLT)

Yesterday we saw how the enemy wants to bring negative chance occurrences into our lives, while God wants to bring life-giving occurrences.

When something negative happens in your life, it puts pressure on you to rush into wrong decisions. This happens all the time in sports. One team pushes the other into a corner until someone passes to the wrong person or shoots when they shouldn't—and an entire game can change.

That's what Satan tries to do with his kind of chance occurrences. As the father of lies, he will try to use these happenings to plant thoughts that pressure you, bring fear and cause you to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire. So when these negative occurrences take us by surprise, how should we handle it?

God has prepared you by giving you a set of armour to wear (Ephesians 6:10-18). Each piece is critical, but today let me highlight the belt of truth. A belt's job is to keep the rest of the armour on. If you're lacking the truth from God's Word in your life, you won't be able to hold onto much of your armour.

John 8:32 (NKJV) says, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." The degree of truth you know deep in your heart is the degree of freedom you will experience in any area of your life.

Whether you're in the middle of a difficult situation right now or you simply want to build a stronger foundation for the future, recognize the importance of getting the truth into you!
