KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN

March 20, 2023

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)

Sharing your faith doesn’t have to be complicated.

I was in line at a bookstore one day when a young woman asked me, “Are you that guy on TV?” I reluctantly said yes, and everyone nearby turned to stare or roll their eyes. “Can you pray for me?” she continued. “My mom just died.” Instantly, everyone’s expressions changed to sympathy. So I took this young woman aside and prayed that God would make her strong during one of the most horrible times of her life.

Another time, during my days as a paramedic, I worked with an upbeat, older nurse whom everyone loved to be around. I knew she wasn’t a believer, and I wanted to find a chance to share Jesus with her. But one morning, I came to work and found out she had died in a fire the night before. I had missed my opportunity.

We can pray about our own problems, but if that’s where we stop, we’ll feel empty. Of course God is out to bless you, but we are to seek first His Kingdom. Who can you pray for? Who can you encourage?People aren’t as confident as their smile or as put together as they appear. They need Jesus, and God will guide you in reaching them.

Keep your eyes open for opportunities. It might be encouraging a fellow believer or sharing Jesus with someone who hasn’t accepted Him yet. You might plant a seed or lead someone in the prayer of salvation. However it happens, you’ll be shocked at the incredible purpose and joy that fills your life when you actively build God’s Kingdom!
