IS IT TIME YOU GOT STIRRED UP?

February 4, 2023

Further, David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all of them were embittered, each man for his sons and daughters. But David felt strengthened and encouraged in the Lord his God. 1 Samuel 30:6 (AMP)

Have you ever felt like nobody was there for you? David experienced this first-hand. In 1 Samuel 30, he and his men returned to their village, only to discover the Amalekites had burned it to the ground and kidnapped their wives and children. They were beside themselves with grief and fear.

When fear is the predominant emotion in our lives, we will lose emotional control and react with anger. We’ll make wrong decisions almost every time because fear misguides us, and that’s exactly what happened with David’s men—they turned against him and wanted to stone him!

However, David handled it differently. Although alone, he encouraged himself in God, and it turned his situation around. David was able to rally his fearful men back into courageous warriors who went on to win back everything they’d lost.

Now, the Bible doesn’t explain how David strengthened himself, but one way I’ve found is to confess the Word of God. When you sense fear pushing at you, take the Word and speak to the fear, because it is a mountain in your life that needs to move. (See Mark 11:23.) Another way is to sing praises to Him.

How you feel and react has a lot to do with what’s coming out of your mouth, so learn how to speak God’s Word in ways that stir you up. It will take you through your situation and lead you to victory!
