IMPACTING GENERATIONS

May 6, 2022

You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 3:15 (NLT)

I have the utmost respect for the women in my life: my wife, four daughters, and my mom. To watch their strength and love for God and family is incredible.

Many people in today’s society act as if being a mom isn’t important or special. But that’s not what God’s Word says at all. Moms have a tremendous impact.

In 2 Timothy 3:15 (MSG), Paul urged young Timothy: “Stick with what you learned and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers—why, you took in the sacred Scriptures with your mother’s milk!” As a mother prays for her child and teaches the Word, that child’s heart absorbs the truth—even before he or she has a grasp of language.

When we train our children, we often focus on rules about sharing properly and not hitting other kids. Those are important, but if that’s all we do, we’re parenting on the defensive. There has to be an offence as well. We need to teach our kids the Word. Teach them who they are and that they’re made in God’s image. Teach them that God goes before them, protects them and has good plans for their lives.

Timothy’s grandmother Lois did this to such a degree that she passed her faith on to her daughter Eunice, who passed it on to Timothy. That’s generational faith!

Moms, never underestimate how special you are. The work you do every day to raise your children and impart faith to them is changing generations.
