IMAGINATION GETTING YOU IN TROUBLE?

October 27, 2022

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:34 (NKJV)

Do you often get worried or anxious about the future? Jesus addressed this in our verse today.

He knows you’re going to think about the details of everyday life such as what you’ll eat, drink and wear, but you don’t have to worry. He said, “That is what pagans are always looking for; your Heavenly Father knows that you need them all. Set your heart on the kingdom and his goodness, and all these things will come to you as a matter of course” (vv. 32–34, PHILLIPS).

Now, what does it mean to “seek first the kingdom”? Most people think it means doing God’s work here on earth. While that is partially true, let’s think about it. Where does this kingdom exist?

It’s not a physical kingdom with borders and government. Jesus didn’t come to bring that sort of kingdom. His kingdom is actually inside you. That’s where the faith life is. When you look after this internal kingdom, change happens in your external world. It happens from the inside out.

Verse 34 encourages us not to worry about tomorrow. That’s using your imagination in the negative. Don’t worry about clothes, food, money or your career. Actually, if you worry about it, there’s a much higher chance that you’re going to attract trouble in those areas of life!

So trust God. Exercise your faith by focusing on God’s promises, and take action. Learn, grow and work hard as you use your imagination to see the end from the beginning. Picture what you desire, go for it, and you will create more of what you want in your future!
