My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. Psalm 73:26 (NLT)
None of us can protect ourselves against everything that comes against us. We live in an imperfect world, and we can't always predict what will happen. That's why it's crucial to establish your heart in God's Word.
I've found this to be true in my life many times. One day, I boarded a plane in Saskatchewan. As it roared down the runway, about to take off, it felt as if the plane hit a wall. All of us passengers hit the seats in front of us, oxygen masks dropped from the overhead compartments and people began screaming. The man beside me was crying and curled in a fetal position.
Suddenly, it all stopped. This man looked over and saw me sitting calmly, and exclaimed, "We almost died! Why aren't you afraid?"
"Because I'm on the plane," I replied. “Nothing will happen to us.” I didn't mean it in an arrogant way. I simply knew God's Word declares that I am protected and guarded by angels. I don't need to beg God for safety. I don't need to bind the right demons for each trip I take. Once my heart embraces His promises, God's power flows from me like rivers of living water. The same is true for you.
The best way to prepare for the future is to establish your heart in the Word now. Then when unforeseen circumstances happen, you'll be able to ride out the storm and keep your heart at ease. You'll also be prepared to move from strength to strength when new opportunities open up!
