GOD IS IN THE VALLEYS TOO

October 11, 2022

Just then a holy man approached the king of Israel saying, “This is God’s word: Because Aram said, ‘God is a god of the mountains and not a god of the valleys,’ I’ll hand over this huge mob of an army to you. Then you’ll know that I am God.” 1 Kings 20:28 (MSG)

Many of us feel confident that God is with us when we’re on top of the mountain. But what about when storms begin to push against us, or everything starts to fall apart?

When facing hardships, many believers curl up into the fetal position spiritually and wonder, “Where is God now?” If you’re struggling with something in life right now, I have good news for you. God is fully aware of how the enemy operates, and that there are valleys you’ll walk through—but He is always with you in them.

Now, God doesn’t put us in valleys. But that doesn’t mean He is not right beside us when life is falling to pieces, pain is trying to come into our lives, or people are talking about us. God is with us, and He will strengthen us and take us through.

Look at how God responded when Israel’s enemy said that He was only a god of the mountains, not the valleys. (See 1 Kings 20.) Did He turn a blind eye or leave the Israelites to fend for themselves? No, He gave the Israelites an even greater victory when they did battle in the valley!

God is your shelter in every storm, hardship and trial. Press into His promises and hold onto them tightly. God said He would give the Israelites victory in the valley, and He kept His word. They still had to fight, but they won. And you can too!
