So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. Soon every container was full to the brim! 2 Kings 4:5–6 (NLT)
Yesterday we talked about preparing to make a greater impact with your life. Another way to go greater is to position yourself for miracles.
One of the best examples of this is found in 2 Kings 4. A widow was about to lose her sons as slaves to a creditor. All she had left in her possession was one jar of oil. So the prophet Elisha told her to gather as many jars as she could from her neighbours and fill them with the oil she had. Once she started pouring, miraculously every jar was filled, allowing her to settle her debts.
Notice that God didn’t set a limit on how many jars the woman could fill. She was the one who prepared to receive the miraculous. If she had expanded her search and gathered even more jars, I believe those would have been filled too.
To fulfill the vision of God for your life, you need to position your heart to receive the miraculous too. This simply means lining up your beliefs with God’s promises and beginning to act on them.
For example, before Gideon could lead his people to victory, he had to get a new vision and see himself as a champion. Before Esther saw the miraculous deliverance of her people, she had to act with courage and risk her life in the presence of the king.
As God’s child, His supernatural ability is already in you. As you continue to renew your mind and raise up your spirit of faith, your self-imposed limits fall away. Begin to believe that the miraculous follows you!
