I often tell men we need a new look at Jesus. Most illustrations show Him with flowing hair and a soft, serene expression. Churches have feminized Jesus to the point that we struggle to imagine Him getting fired up about anything. But read the Gospels and you’ll see a Jesus full of zeal and purpose!
My favourite description of Him is found in Revelation 1. It describes Jesus with hair as white as wool, representing phenomenal wisdom and purity. He has a gold sash across His chest, which is a garment of respect and leadership.
And this Jesus has fire in His eyes. He’s not wishy washy; He lives and speaks with passion. He looks like a warrior champion and the King of kings. We as believers need to have this same champion spirit.
Now, I’m not diminishing the love or kindness of Jesus. But love is not limited to tenderness. To love is to value something so much that you get up and fight for it. Paul also says in 1 Timothy 6:12 to “fight the good fight of faith”!
Men, you are not called to be timid. You’re called to walk with dignity, live with passion and rise up to fight for the things that matter. Don’t let the world water you down. Keep the passion alive inside you, and you’ll raise up your family to do the same—and to go further than you ever have.
