FAILURES DON’T MEAN YOU SHOULD QUIT

March 25, 2023

Then Jesus rebuked the demon in the boy, and it left him. From that moment the boy was well. Matthew 17:18 (NLT)

As believers, it’s essential to keep going even if we experience failures along the way.

Matthew 17 shares a story demonstrating the power of stubborn faith, even in the face of disappointment or setbacks. A father brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus’ disciples for healing. Not believing it would happen, they were unable to heal him. But that didn’t stop the father. He didn’t throw his hands up and say, “Well, that’s that.” No, he persisted until he got to Jesus, who did free his son.

It reminds me of the time I flew to a small, remote northern village for some meetings. While there, I met a precious elderly gentleman who couldn’t walk.

When I asked if I could pray for him, he agreed but told me many people had prayed for him over the years. So, after encouraging him with a few stories from God’s Word, I said, “Now let’s pray together and believe God.” As I was praying, the man started to stir. Suddenly, he pushed me back and stood up! That night as he walked through the village, news of his miracle spread like wildfire.

Maybe you or someone you know has been prayed for repeatedly only to experience disappointment, like the father in Matthew 17 or the man I met. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve failed or had people pray over you. Hold onto a stubborn faith that says, “It’s God’s will for me to walk in health. His promises belong to me. Body, be whole in Jesus’ name!” Declare His Word with confidence and speak to your situation with His truth!
