May he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen. Hebrews 13:21(NLT)
I had the pleasure of pastoring with my dad in his church for 14 years. During that time, he taught me a crucial habit. Every day, he prayed and believed God for at least one opportunity to minister to someone. I watched him do this day after day, and I began doing the same.
One day, I was having a conversation with a young man, and we got around to talking about what Jesus means to me. Suddenly angry, this man swore a blue streak and told me he absolutely hated God. I asked him why, and he told me the story of how his mother died when he was ten years old. The preacher at the funeral had said God needed another flower in Heaven.
The young man said, “I remember thinking, ‘What does God need my mom for?’ I needed my mom. I was only ten!” He went on to share how his life had gone downhill after that as his father remarried and later divorced.
I looked this man in the eye and said, “You were lied to. God's will was that your mom stay with you. He did not take her away.” A remarkable change took place in the young man as he realized that contrary to what he had been told, God is good!
Sharing Jesus isn’t hard. I didn’t have to say anything deep or complicated to convince this man. Simply ask God for opportunities to demonstrate His love, and believe that He has equipped you with everything you need!
