COMFORTABLE IN YOUR OWN SKIN

November 8, 2022

Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. Romans 12:4–5 (NLT)

I remember a time in my life when I was trying so hard to be all things to all people that my body actually suffered a few physical breakdowns.

From that point on, I decided that I would never let that happen to me again. There is just no way that I can do everything. In fact, I’m not good at everything and I know it! God gave me a few gifts, but I have no trouble saying that I need the help of others. In fact, I celebrate their gifts... especially the ones that I don’t have.

Do you feel like you’re spread too thin? Maybe you are trying to be someone you’re not and it’s time to get comfortable in your own skin.

God gave you the strengths He did for a reason, and you don’t have to be good at everything. After all, you make a fantastic you, but a lousy someone else. When someone else is great at something and it makes you feel insecure, remember that God put a lot of thought into how He made you. You are no accident and you have great potential!

We all have different functions, and one function is not better than another. We need each other, so stop comparing yourself to everyone else. Learn to accept and celebrate your uniqueness.

We all have things to work on, and we’ll keep learning and growing all our lives. Within that process, just be who you are.
