6 PRINCIPLES FOR MOMS

May 5, 2022

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children...” Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NKJV)

Mothers play such a vital role. Today, I want to share some of the parenting principles in God’s Word that will help you raise children of faith.

  1. Teach your children God’s Word (Deuteronomy 6:6-9). It’s important to get the Word inside of you first—to have a revelation of God and His promises—and then teach it to your kids.
  2. Train your children (Proverbs 22:6). In sports, a coach is out on the field during practice, showing the players how to run faster or pass the ball. Get on your kids’ level and show them God’s ways by example.
  3. Provide for your children (1 Timothy 5:8). As parents, we want to provide our kids with everything they need.
  4. Nurture your children (Ephesians 6:4). Not only do you correct and teach them, but you do it with compassion, tenderness and love.
  5. Control your children (1 Timothy 3:4, 12). This doesn’t mean dominating them. But the Word is very clear that we need to discipline our children to teach them wisdom and regard for others.
  6. Love your children. In all of these principles, the driving force is love. No matter how old or young your children are, find ways to show how much you value them!

I’m not saying that following these steps will guarantee your kids will serve God. But when you plant faith in their hearts, then as they grow up, they will have the best chance of making good choices. Believe that the Word you’ve planted in them will come up (1 Peter 2:24) and bear incredible fruit in their lives!
